My parents introduced us to the Firmdale Hotels’ Film Club a couple of years ago and ever since we’ve been working our way through the different hotels.
The package on offer at each of the Firmdale hotels is a 3 course meal / afternoon tea, film and popcorn all for around the £35 mark:
It makes a great present for anyone and they give the programme of movies on show about two months in advance.
On Easter Sunday we headed to The Soho Hotel in the pouring rain for Dallas Buyers Club.
The movie is wonderful and is based on the real life Ron Woodroof who was an electrician / rodeo cowboy who finds out he is H.I.V positive and given only 30 days to live.
Most of you will have seen awards and nominations being showered on the cast including Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto. They deserve one just for losing so much weight!
After the rather sombre showing we moved back upstairs to the Refuel restaurant ready for our dinner.
I started with ham hock terrine and shared a bit of Lawrence’s endive salad with roquefort and walnuts. Our main was a huge portion of Roast Beef and yorkshire pudding with sides of vegetables.
With it being a Bank Holiday and Easter Sunday, Cheesecake was the only thing for it for dessert. They’d run out of Chocolate Orange so in its place was Oreo cheesecake which was heavenly.
The food is always spot on and you get great choice for your money. When you think how much the big cinemas like Vue or Odeon charge just for a ticket, popcorn and drink then £35 is a bargain!
