I’d seen a lot of publicity about Pick Me Up down at Somerset House, but hadn’t quite realised what it entailed until we got down there.
Somerset House was in all it’s glory while basking in the Bank Holiday sunshine.
The festival was down in the Embankment galleries and is a contemporary graphic arts event. There are many forms of graphic art on show and pretty much all of it can be purchased on the day.
You start by walking through rooms with up and coming graphic artists – the work is incredible and there are plenty of bargains to be had!
As you get deeper and deeper into the galleries you’re welcomed with more and more artwork.
There was even a live graphic sketching taking place which was very interesting.
I especially liked the work from ‘Hey Studio’ and ‘Edward Carvalho-Monaghan’. The list of ‘Pick Me Up Selects’ can be found here.
Near the end of the festival was a beautiful sofa which had a very unusual ‘Birds & Bananas’ print, sounds strange I know, but looked gorgeous.
I would highly recommend people visit next year, great place to get some new pieces for your home. I just wish I had more space in the flat to fit it all in!
