I’ve heard great things about Mem & Laz (just off of Upper Street) over the last few years. Since moving into the area it’s been on my list to visit and try the food for myself.
After a tough day at work, this called for a bottle of red, good food and a gossip with an old school friend Janine.
We pretended to be in the mediterranean by enjoying the balmy London weather and sitting outside, although make sure you have a peek inside at the glorious decor.
Looking at the menu you’re overwhelmed by the list of choices on offer, which normally puts me off a restaurant but here I’ll overlook that fact.
We started with houmous and pitta bread, which was creamy and as good as you’ll get.
Then the king and baby prawns in a creamy, white wine sauce, topped with melted cheese and served with toasted bread to soak up all the gorgeous sauce.
Being cheese fans we couldn’t resist the trio of breaded cheeses, perhaps not very mediterranean but lovely all the same!
For mains Janine went for the Chicken wings and I opted for the lamb kofte which was lovely.
As I mentioned before the menu is long which in this case gives you all the more reason to go back on many occasions and work your way through the scrumptious food.
