Every year Mum swears as I am jammy enough to win Wimbledon tickets in the Highgate draw.
This year was another one of those so Lawrence and I were lucky enough to head over to Wimbledon to No.1 court on the First Monday of the tournament.
We had glorious sunshine and took our Bubbly allowance and lunch along with us for the day.
We started on the outside courts and managed to get an upfront view of the beautiful Verdasco, who unfortunately lost his first match.
We took our seats on No.1 for the Azarenko match and then Dimitrov afterwards.
Dimitrov v Harrison was reminiscent of Roddick matches with the big serves and very short service games.
The highlight of the day was Melzer v Tsonga.
Some great rallies which ended up going to 5 sets. There were two incidents where Melzer ran off the court (we’re thinking bowel movements proving a nuisance) and got cautions for taking too long. He then proceeded to complain about the light, but just as he said this and it got to 5-4 Tsonga fifth set the rain started to chuck it down so the day was over!
It’s always a splendid day out and remember to bring your picnic/drink with you to sit on Murray Mound (in my heart still Henman Hill).
