After a long week and a belated birthday for Heather – it was suggested we take a trip across the road to the new restaurant Stephen St Kitchen. As locals we get 20% which seemed like a better excuse than any!
There’s been a lot of building work going on under the BFI offices on Stephen Street, so it was a great surprise to see the fruits of their labour in the form of a new restaurant. It all sits under the branch of Benugo, which includes their restaurant on Southbank which is great location and good food.
This new one has a wonderful menu, with some unusual choices on there. I went for the Pork Belly from the Wood Fired Oven which was lovely. Very tender meat with an apple, parsley and mint salad. I would recommend ordering a side with the dish, the jersey potatoes are great (managed to steal a few from Jack).
We also happened to be sat behind Christoper Bucklow, the artist of some of the photos on the wall – the naked ladies in blue are his pieces. These caused a bit of a divide on the table as to who did or didn’t like them.
It has an outdoor area, a real sun trap, good choice for lunch if anyone is in the area.
