After Mum’s successful performance in organising her WW1 event in Muswell Hill it was off for a quick bite to eat across the road at Chooks.
Chooks has been open awhile now (for locals you may remember it used to be an Ask pizza restaurant) and offer great chicken in comfort food form.
It has a similar style to Nando’s in that you can ask for 1/4 or 1/2 chicken across three different sauce ranges but I would say it’s got much more style and more unique in the rest of the menu and decor etc. Also you pay at the table after your food unlike Nando’s!
For me seeing as it was quite late in the evening I went for the Mediterranean Couscous salad with buttermilk chicken (their take on a lighter option). It was a great mix and had my favourite quinoa mixed throughout which went wonderfully with the buttermilk chicken.
Lawrence was clearly rather hungry as he went for the Hog ‘n’ Chook combo. A mix of 1/2 slab of ribs, 1/4 chicken, coleslaw and fries. This kept him very happy and he actually was leaning towards the ribs as the better of the two meats.
Chooks is a nice, relaxed restaurant and the food is comfort that you can rely on. It’s definitely one of a kind for Muswell Hill as well which at one point was full of chain restaurants.
