At last a long weekend to relax and recharge the batteries after a busy few months at work and on weekends.
After a pleasant lie in Lawrence and I ventured in the car out to Kenwood for a run. When I say run I mean a lot of intervals of jogging followed by longer periods of walking – my lazy ways!
Kenwood is gorgeous and brought back many memories of walking Holly the dog as a child and climbing all the strange and twisted trees.
It’s beautiful on a summery day just to walk around and I recommend ending up at Kenwood house for a scone and hot drink while sitting on the grass looking over the view. Some of you may recognise the scene from Notting Hill.
After this bit of exercise it was time to go meet Holly and Lexi at Crate Brewery by Hackney Wick. It’s been on my list ever since a friend recommended the fine beers and even better pizzas.
Just as I emerged from the overground the heavens opened up which wasn’t great for the 100s of Secret Cinema fans who were all dressed up and piled out of the carriage with me!
Luckily that was the only shower for the day so we managed to sit outside by the canal for the rest of the evening. My tipple of choice has been red wine recently so I didn’t actually sample the Crate beers on offer, but Lawrence was impressed.
After a catch up and few more glasses it was time to get involved with the pizzas. We went for the Spicy Salami, lamb mince and courgette, stilton and walnut.
The base is lovely and crispy, you can tell it’s come straight out of a proper pizza oven. They have some real odd ingredients on there which when you try them are actually very good, this was definitely the case with the stilton / walnut.
We continued on for another few hours and just wished that we’d made the effort earlier on in Summer as it would have been the perfect place to watch the world go by on a Summer’s day. As Bank Holiday monday weather showed we might not have too many more sun filled days left!
