Chiltern Firehouse – Let’s see what all the fuss is about!

With the booking being in place months before, there was a degree of anticipation and intrigue as to what would the infamous Chiltern Firehouse really be like. Was it worth all the hype, long booking queues and price? It was time to find out. For those of you who haven’t ever heard of Chiltern Firehouse, it’s a restaurant that opened in 2013 as one of Andre Balazs, an American hotel owner. Nuno Mendes heads up the kitchen and he previously ran Viajante at Bethnal Green’s Town Hall Hotel. In June 2014, The Telegraph called it ‘London’s hottest celebrity hangout’ and those who read Daily Mail’s showbiz section you’ll see the hoards of celebrities popping in on a daily basis. A Night at the Theatre – Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Now the evening didn’t start off too well as I managed to time the tube at Caledonian Road with all the Arsenal fans. If that wasn’t bad enough my exit was among bus loads of slow walking tourists at Leicester Square! As you can tell I was in a fine mood when I finally got to Canela Cafe in Seven Dials. The 10 Cases, Covent Garden

The Archers kindly booked dinner for us all at the lovely little 10 Cases restaurant in Covent Garden. They only ever buy 10 cases of the wines which are on the list and you’ll see them written up on the wall. Once they’ve been drunk then the name gets crossed off on the wall and it’s onto the next option. Continue reading “The 10 Cases, Covent Garden”

Prawn on the Lawn – Fish Galore!

Since moving to Highbury we’ve had our eye on the lovely little fish bar/restaurant called Prawn on the Lawn. It began life as a fishmongers but now has a laid-back basement restaurant downstairs which just has a chalkboard with all the food on offer. They only have a cold-food license which is all they need and with the fish top quality you don’t need anything else. Continue reading “Prawn on the Lawn – Fish Galore!”

Launch Party of Sideways6.

My very talented university friend Will founded Sideways6 in January 2014, they specialise in centralised internal networks for organisations of all shapes and sizes. These are networks which companies can use as a centralised hub for nurturing employees ideas which could massively save money by having the ideas internally to solve business challenges. Foxcroft & Ginger, how bakeries should be!

I was given the opportunity to review Foxcroft & Ginger in Soho (which hopefully this will lead to some more exciting events, but still early days) and so after a successful day at work met Lawrence there to sample their pizzas. Continue reading “Foxcroft & Ginger, how bakeries should be!”

Belated Birthday meal with the Masterchef Winners!

Parents very kindly had booked for my (belated) birthday a table at the Masterchef PopUp restaurant in the Blue Fin Building just behind the Tate Modern. This was a first for the Masterchef franchise and they put on a month long popup bringing together all the finalists from the last 10 years.
