Bury Court is situated in prime location next to the Gherkin and Heron Tower which as you can imagine makes it a very popular drinking hole with the local city workers.
The bar sits under the Balls Brothers franchise and they’ve recently gone through a refurbishment to try and make the place a bit more appealing to the ladies. They’ve added a more feminine decor inside and both the drinks and food have been given a few additions which they hope will appeal to the females.
For the next few months they are hosting a weekly Gin Masterclass with the likes of Sipsmith and Beefeater running them. They had a full house the night we were there so looks like it’s going to be a popular event. We however sampled a few of the cocktails from the menu, with some of them packing a punch in their alcohol quantities. Each of the cocktails had a beautiful sketch to give you a hint of what you can expect.
The food is very reasonably priced and we sampled the potted shrimp to start which was fresh and very tasty.
We also tried the goats cheese and beetroot salad, perhaps aimed at the ladies but was still a very hefty portion.
Braised pig cheeks and scallops were up next, the meat was tender and a great combination while sat on a generous portion of mash.
We just about managed to find room for the desserts they had on offer, although the chocolate pot was incredibly rich, one for the chocoholics among you.
For anyone in the area pop on down to Bury Court and ladies no doubt the extensive wine list will entice you for a post work drink.
