I was lucky enough to win tickets for New Look’s Wireless10 in Finsbury Park so jumped at the chance to head down for their one day 10th Birthday celebrations.
The setup was awesome and the organisation of bar, toilet queues etc had really been thought of – barely spent anytime at all for the all important festival needs of cider.
We got there just in time for Katy B who was on the main stage and put on quite the show, running around the stage with her equally energetic dancers. It’s surprising how many of her songs that we knew and the big crowd pleaser was when Lethal Bizzle came out to join her on set!
Post Katy B it was time to explore a little and go give the New Look hangout a go which was great fun – djs, get your hair done, pull up competition (which the boys couldn’t stop but get involved).
Another highlight was the Kopparberg tent where we could be kids again and give the slide a go which is a right old giggle.
Before we knew it, it was time for Rita Ora, who I’ll admit has never been one of my favourite acts but yet again I was proved wrong and really enjoyed her set (rather racy indeed).
She did most of a her big classics which went down a storm but then included more of her newer stuff like Poison.
There was a very loud cheer when British hip-hop pair Krept and Konan came on the stage, admittedly to our bemusement as we weren’t sure who they were!
Next up it was time for the main event, my new favourite Drake! Having seen the line up before I’ll admit I failed to recall many of Drake’s songs, He came out playing an incredible set and lyrics were coming to our brains from a hidden memory, clearly secret Drake fans.
It’s quite impressive for someone to take ownership of a huge stage like that for a couple of hours on your own, purely with an impressive Jungle set.
He seemed like a really genuine guy, apologising for not making it last year due to illness.
The set came to a close with wonderful fireworks that always bring a smile to our faces. It was a spontaneous day out and turned out to be an incredible day, thank you New Look!
