Now poor Lawrence gets taken to all sorts of things without knowing what he’s gone to. This was no exception. Lovely Lucy from uni had recommended Supper in a Pear Tree, a still life drawing lesson followed by a supper club in Lavender Hill, Clapham.
The combination is from two sisters who one has trained as a chef and helped to open up Spring restaurant in Somerset house. The other is a full time artist who trained in Lavender Hill studios which is now the venue for their pop up event which happens once a month.
You begin the evening with a glass of wine, and then are asked to find yourself an easel.
The nude model then emerges and the first part is for you to do a bit of free drawing of the model without any direction. Safe to say mine was awful but Lawrence’s artistic talents definitely came through.
Charlotte then provides you with a little lesson on how to draw nudes with charcoals using a box approach which was very interesting. I like to think it helped a little during our second approach, but think I’ve still got a long way before becoming an artist – although art is subjective isn’t it!
After letting the creative juices flow we were ushered to the beautifully set table full of candle light. The company was great and the food was lovely.
It was a beautiful lamb dish followed by fig dessert, apologies for not getting any pictures.
If you know anyone who likes a bit of art and food then definitely get in contact to get places for their next pop up. They even will arrange hen, birthday parties etc.
