One Crazy Night in Paris

Oh how we’re starting to fall in love with Paris, as a child you don’t quite appreciate the city but now we’re older and more mature (sort of) there’s nothing better than walking around the city, taking in the sights and sampling the wonderful French cuisine. Continue reading “One Crazy Night in Paris”

Le Manoir, Oxford Weekend Away

This year for Lawrence’s birthday we booked a weekend away in Oxford. The main reason for choosing Oxford was to pay a visit to Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons (try saying that after a few drinks). This has been on our list for awhile and we were finally going to sample Raymond Blanc’s tasting menu. Rather than spend the minimum £750 / night room price (pick yourself up off the floor), we decided to book just for lunch. We drove up from London, left the car overnight and got a taxi into Oxford city centre – more on that later. Continue reading “Le Manoir, Oxford Weekend Away”

Midsummer House, Cambridge

Time flies when you’re having fun, so it seems, as Lawrence and I have recently hit the seven year mark in our relationship. Seeing as a fairly big milestone and we’d had this restaurant recommended to us we made plans for a weekend away in Cambridge. Our restaurant of choice was the two michelin starred Midsummer House. The Black Swan at Oldstead, Yorkshire

Having close friends across the country makes for a great excuse to escape London and get out into the countryside. For this trip we were heading up North, to Yorkshire. Our friends who live in York went to school with a very talented chef, Tommy Banks who is head chef at The Black Swan in Oldstead which is about 45mins outside of York. Beautiful Budapest weekend with the Girls

What better weekend than a sunny trip away to Budapest with close group of school friends. We hopped on a plane for the bank holiday weekend and arrived in scorching temperatures on the other side. Continue reading “Beautiful Budapest weekend with the Girls”

Glamping and feasting at The Queen, Brandeston

Recently an old school friend got in touch about a new venture her family have embarked on in Suffolk and we jumped at the opportunity to get away from the city. The family have recently taken over a pub called The Queen in a wonderful setting over in Brandeston, Suffolk. It really is a family affair with her elder brother heading up the kitchen and the sisters leading the front of house. Continue reading “Glamping and feasting at The Queen, Brandeston”

Final day of pizza and walking.

We were coming to the end of our trip but managed to squeeze some last visits to well known New York attractions which we may not have seen in awhile. Of course Times Square featured high on Lawrence’s list so off we went to really feel like a tourist. Continue reading “Final day of pizza and walking.”

High Line walks and massive steaks.

A trip to New York isn’t complete without a walk along the High Line. It’s a disused rail line which used to transport goods from 34th street down to the meatpacking district in the 1930s. The last train rain along the line in 1980 and it wasn’t until 1999 when planning began to turn it into a public space. Continue reading “High Line walks and massive steaks.”

New York, New York

Oh how I love New York and when parents suggested at the beginning of the year why don’t we pay your uncle a visit over in New York I jumped at the opportunity. If you shop the flight sales you can get a very good price on return flights to the Big Apple. Continue reading “New York, New York”
